The foot and ankle are complex structures that play a crucial role in supporting the body, facilitating movement, and maintaining balance.

Symptoms :

1. Pain: Persistent or acute pain in the foot or ankle, ranging from dull aches to sharp, stabbing sensations.

2. Swelling: Inflammation or swelling around the ankle or foot, often accompanied by redness.

3. Stiffness: Difficulty moving the foot or ankle with a reduced range of motion.

4. Bruising: Discoloration of the skin due to injury or trauma.

5. Instability: Feeling unsteady or having difficulty maintaining balance while standing or walking.

Causes:

1. Sprains and Strains: Overstretching or tearing of ligaments (sprains) or muscles/tendons (strains) can result from injury or overuse.

2. Fractures: Breaks in the bones of the foot or ankle, often caused by trauma or accidents.

3. Arthritis: Inflammatory conditions, such as osteoarthritis or rheumatoid arthritis, can affect the joints in the foot and ankle.

4. Plantar Fasciitis: Inflammation of the plantar fascia, a thick band of tissue that supports the arch of the foot.

5. Tendonitis: Inflammation of the tendons, commonly caused by overuse or repetitive movements.
